| Ålesund had a Great Fire in 1904, and more than 12 000 people lost their homes. The town was rebuilt in Art Nouveau (German Jugendstil) architecture. The town has been awarded the Houens National Memorial Prize (1988) for the preservation of its unique architecture. Have a look at these elaborately decorated buildings. |
